Born into a world where rhythm ran through her veins, Rose May’s journey began in the vibrant streets of Vienna, Austria, where she was born and raised to a Nigerian father and a Filipino mother. Inspired by her Nigerian heritage and European upbringing, she effortlessly blends Afro-pop beats with contemporary melodies to create a unique sound that transcends borders. One of her greatest achievements was writing and performing the official theme song of the 2017 Special Olympics, a testament to her talent and commitment to using her music for meaningful causes.
Alaba’s mother, Gina, is from the Philippines, and her father, George Alaba, is from Nigeria. Austrian national soccer player David Alaba is her brother. Her father used to be a rapper and had some success as the male part of the pop-dance duo Two in One in the late 1990s – their Indian Song was the summer hit of 1999, was long on the Austrian and European charts – and worked as a DJ in Viennese clubs until 2011.
